H2O Kalmar Prototypes Part.1 (titanium)

By TLex I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to finally be able to reveal the very first prototype images of the titanium version of the upcoming H2O Kalmar. For those of you who haven't been following the H2O story; the Kalmar promises to be not only the world's most customizable dive watch with a plethora of modifications that can be carried out by its wearer using a system of user-friendly hex-screws for attaching interchangeable bezels, casebacks and crown guards; but a force to be reckoned with among Boutique dive watches . . .

The H2O Kalmar will be one of, if not the first dive watches in the Boutique sector to be using Grade 5 Titanium case construction, certainly one the deepest boutique divers with a water-resistance of 3'000 meters and priced extremely competitively at 900USD (Brushed titanium housing an ETA 2824) - 1'100USD (DLC on Bead Blasted titanium housing an ETA2836-GMT).

H2O Watch are also working with and experimenting with new and innovative case construction using exotic metals. I have seen their first attempt, which I will be previewing along with this and the DLC Coated Bead Blasted Titanium version and it is nothing short of stunning!

Shown here sporting an understated metallic silver dial (12 other dial options are available), the H2O Klamar looks not only charismatic, but like a very capable precision engineered dive watch. Stay tuned for further pricing, full pre-ordering information and the announcement of the launch of H2O Website and of course 'H2O Kalmar Prototypes Part.2 & 3 . . .

HANHART Primus DIVER

By TLex I think I'm having deja vu! I first posted the HANHART Primus Diver (here) in 2009. HANHART have since added a DLC finished model to their collection of stainless steel and 18 ct. rose gold, otherwise the Primus Diver remains unchanged. Apart from the lovely lume job, each diver features a smart red anodized aluminum Chrono pusher. I should add that the Primus Diver is diver only in name; its 44mm case is only rated to 100 meters.

From HANHART In the past, Hanhart supplied the Navy with chronographs, including the single-button "Calibre 40", and stopwatches. Today naval officers, leisure sailors and divers wear wristwatches or use stopwatches from Hanhart both on and under the water. The striking fluted bezel with inlaid red marking of the Primus Diver is reminiscent of the design of the watch manufacturer's legendary chronographs and is realized as a concave, unidirectional rotating bezel featuring a scale for calculating the dive time. It can be adjusted to an anticlockwise direction and has a detent set in steps of a minute.

MOVEMENT HAN38 modified automatic chronograph movement (bicompax), based on the Valjoux 7750 calibre; 28,800 vibrations per hour, 4 Hz; 25 jewels; black PVD-coated rotor with a skeletonized, incised Hanhart logo; power reserve of min. 42 hours

FUNCTIONS Small seconds at 9 o'clock, 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, date display at 6 o'clock

CASE Stainless steel / ADLC coated stainless steel / 18 ct. rose gold; anodized aluminum red button; fluted, concave, unidirectional rotating bezel with inlaid red marking; convex, internally anti-reflective sapphire glass; screwed-down, internally anti-reflective sapphire glass case back; screw-in crown; flexible lugs (angle of 45-50); diameter 44 mm, height 15 mm; water-resistance to 10 atm/100 m

DIAL Black; with Super-LumiNova-coated, luminous Arabic numerals, index marks, hands and yellow auxiliary dials for small seconds and 30-minute counter

STRAP Vulcanized rubber with molded Hanhart logo, non-allergenic; folding clasp with inlaid red marking (anodized aluminum) made from black Stainless steel/ ADLC-coated stainless steel

TRNAN Oceanographer (intro)

By TLex TRNAN (pronounced 'Tayr-nan') is the name of the Swedish tern, an elegant seabird of the Sternidae family and now the silhouetted tern logo of the revived TRNAN watch brand. TRNAN of 50s and 60s had been producing finely made stainless steel watches housing predominately Swiss calibres for the Swedish watch market; they also produced some nautical watches and chronographs.

TRNAN's 'water-proof' models (divers) were marked as such, but in Swedish 'vattentt', a trait that the new TRNAN Oceanographer also displays on its dial.

The brand was revived by Franck J, who in 2009 successfully launched the Techn brand. His plan with TRNAN - to release vintage-inspired watches such as the Oceanographer, which pays homage to the Rolex Submariner ref. 6200 from 1955.

To discover more about the brand and the new Oceanographer, please take the time to visit the TRNAN website, which was launched just today . . .

'Inspired by early experimental diving watches from the 1950's, the OCEANOGRAPHER is built with the best materials available and is manufactured using cutting-edge processes.'
