By TLex Clercs uber diver, the Hydroscaph now boasts a stunning new chronograph feature with enhanced readability thanks to an innovative short-time display that is provided by two central hands, one indicting seconds and the other the minutes.
The watch which is known as the Hydroscaph Central Chronograph Small Seconds comes in two equally beautiful finishes: STEEL, as shown here and BLACK DLC.
Starting with the watchs high-tech, futuristic case - developed not only to look incredible but also to meet the demanding criteria of a professional diving instrument.
It measures 43.8mm in diameter and comprises of no less than 103-parts, it is guaranteed water-resistance up to 500 metres, and is equipped with lateral reinforcements and CLERCs signature octagonal rotational divers bezel with its four sloping sides.
This divers bezel is protected by a CLERC exclusive mechanism that prevents any inadvertent activation, since it can only be turned by prior deployment of the retractable flap at 10 oclock.
Once the flap is returned to its initial retracted position, the bezel is securely locked against any risk that might cause a change in the dive-time setting.
The large chrono-pushers at 2 and 4 oclock also feature a specific structure. Whilst they are broad in their design they have been hollowed out on their inner side,
they each react to pressure by pivoting around a lateral axis acting as a lever, very much like a piano key. This ergonomic structure ensures manoeuvrability that enhances precision when starting, stopping or zero-resetting the chronograph.
The time-setting and winding crown at 3 oclock ensures an optimal grip, while the 3 mm thick anti-reflective Sapphire crystal protects this superlative dive watch from any scratches or violent impacts.
Underneath a multi-structured dial with luminescent reader-friendly oversized markers ensure maximum legibility for the central chronograph which is powered by an exclusive self-winding Clerc H608-2 calibre
with its central display of short-time measurements. Instead of small, hard-to-read counters, the sweep-seconds hand is coupled with another dragging hand indicating the minutes.
This original 60-minute display ensures optimal legibility that is just as essential on dry land as in the depths of the ocean.
Meanwhile, the articulated lugs ensure a perfect fit on any wrist, even over a neoprene divers wetsuit.
All new Hydroscaph dive watches must successfully undergone a series of rigorous tests, designed to ensure that they fully comply with all the required industry standards for dive watches and are capable of withstanding extreme conditions at great depths.
These include: traction, shocks, visibility, magnetism, water-resistance in deep waters, resistance to seawater and corrosion, air or water pressure, extreme temperatures, underwater storms.
These advanced tests were performed in real-life conditions in the most prestigious subaquatic R&D lab, within the framework of the partnership between Clerc and the submersible technologies specialist, Sub Aviator SYSTEMS.
