By TLex ORIS have brightened up their AQUIS Divers collection with two new models that have been designed with legibility in mind; specifically when underwater. Actually it�s no big secret that the two most visible colors underwater are orange and YELLOW.
BLUE is the last color in the spectrum to remain visible when descending into the depths but when it comes to overall visibility; it�s orange and yellow all the way.
That is to say that, orange for example not only pops on dry land giving you a sporty look, but underwater as well, when it counts most thus making it more easily seen when reading dive-time.
I�m not sure exactly why those two colors are more visible over say � purple or green but two researchers; John Adolfson and Thomas Berghage made this discovery which they reported in a medical paper on � Perception & Performance Under Water. You can Google it.
Okay that�s the science hype out the way with let�s take a closer look the new Aquis Date ORANGE.
The minute track which has been printed on the inside of the crystal, the triangular 12hr marker on the divers bezel and the seconds hand (movement indicator on a dive watch) have all been given the color treatment. These particular features will all benefit from the additional color.
However, I just wish ORIS had had the balls to apply the same orange to the minute hand which in combination with the 12hr marker is used to measure dive, should your dive computer fail on you, that is! Now that would have looked properly cool! ;)
Its 43mm Stainless steel case is high-functioning with a top-notch Swiss build quality. It houses an automatic mechanical movement with: a date indicator; is water-resistant to 30 bar /300 meters; and has unidirectional rotational divers bezel with a black ceramic inlay.
It comes with a choice of three strap and bracelet options; an orange or black rubber divers strap or a Stainless steel metal bracelet. The rubber straps are equipped with the Oris developed quick-adjust, sliding-sledge folding clasp that can be adjusted for length without ever having to remove the watch from the wrist.
