VintageVDB IV Red EAGLE

By TLex Here's the latest masterpiece to hail from the maverick watchmaking ateliers of Vintage-VDB. The Erfurt, Germany based watchmakers have garnered a reputation for producing high-quality handmade wristwatches with their own unique style of branding. 

Their creations are typically: rugged vintage-mil. styled watches with a charming handcrafted utilitarian atheistic that are powered by vintage mechanical calibers.



The Red Eagle boasts a handmade bronze case, based on the VDB IV. It measures 46mm in diameter with a lug to lug measurement of 56mm and a thickness of 19mm.



It is fitted with a double-sealed 316L Stainless screwdown caseback and a 4mm thick domed plexiglass acrylic crystal. The overall crystal measurement is 8mm. The case back features a 'Red Eagle' engraving outlined in red.



The bezel is uni-directional type with clicks at 5min intervals. It has a drab olive green inlay with red markers and a lumed 12 hour marker. The 12-sided crown, positioned at 12 o'clock measures 9mm. It is double sealed and signed with the VDB logo outlined in red.



The dial is made from brass that has been coated, engraved and painted along with the hands with vintage-style degraded luminous material. The central point of the dial sports a large 'radioactive' symbol.



The Red Eagle is powered by an old school Eterna Matic automatic movement. It is presented on 28mm hand-stitched brown leather strap with printed eagle motif and a solid bronze buckle.

MAURICE LACROIX Pontos S Diver 'VINTAGE'

By TLex Maurice Lacroix have previewed a handsome new vintage-style three hands version of the Pontos S Diver due for release at Basel. The 43mm Stainless steel watch case is equipped with an automatic helium escape valve at 9 o'clock, an inner rotational divers bezel, a domed Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and a water-resistance of 600 m (60 ATM/2,000 ft).



For enhanced readability below the water, its black 'sunray' brushed dial is enhanced with applied hour-markers and Superluminova highlighted hands, while the minutes and seconds are red-rimmed. The watch is powered by the automatic ML 115 calibre with 26 jewels, 28,800 vib/h, 38-hour power reserve.



Functions include: hours, minutes, seconds and date (window at 6 o'clock). It is preseneted on a brown leather strap with a steel buckle or triple-row steel bracelet with a double safety folding clasp and additional NATO-type nylon strap. There is so much that appeals to about this watch, its almost perfect. However to have achieved perfection the crown should have been moved to 4 o'clock. Still a cracking watch though!

TechnoMarine Steel EVOLUTION Carbon DIVER

Its 45mm case has been constructed from Stainless steel - however it has been fitted with a black carbon fiber cover. The bezel is in black PVD coated steel. The dial is in carbon fabric with orange counter rings.



Further features include: an AR-coated Sapphire crystal and a water-resistance of 200 meters. The watch is powered by a Swiss Quartz movement, The Ronda caliber 5040D. It is presented on a black silicone with a woven fabric insert.

U-BOAT U-42 VNICVM

By TLex Here's a very cool special edition of the U-42 based on the B & B by Italo Fontana. At this stage is not known whether or not the 'VNICVM' will be a Limited Edition or not. The watch shown here is one-off piece. It boasts a unique aesthetic that combines modern materials such as Ceramic, Marine Bronze and Titanium with a bespoke aged finish to create something quite different!



In many ways, U-BOAT watches are characterized by their retro-styled looks - however this time, Italo Fonata has ventured way beyond these parameters and has designed a watch that not only has the spirit and aesthetic of something from the past, but that actually looks like an old relic that has been subjected to the rigors time, visibly aged and distressed.



The case is in Titanium with a black IP treatment. The crown, the pin of the hook, the screws on the bezel, the bezel release lever and the limited serial number plate are all in bronze. The caseback is fixed onto the case with 6 encapsulated hexagon screws. The serial numbers are engraved by hand on the caseback.

The bi-directional rotating bezel is lockable via a lever on the right side of the case. At 12 o'clock there is a ball indicator on the bezel made of ceramic. The crystal is Sapphire. The brass dial is black with its markers treated with SuperLuminova in peach color. Each dial is patiently treated with a natural aging process.



The hands have been painted first, discolored and then scratched by hand meticulously on purpose to age them. To complete the VNICVM concept a range of straps in leather, great example of fine Italian handiwork, has been deliberately and patiently distressed , subjected to specific treatments with same selected acids , one by one shaped and hand-stitched by craftsmen from Tuscany.

EBERHARD & CO Chrono 4 G�ant Full INJECTION

By TLex Eberhard & Co.'s flagship collection gets a new all-black edition. The technically complex, Chrono 4 G�ant "Full Injection" will only be produced in single run of 500 watches. Its Stainless steel case and buckle have been treated with black DLC-Dianoir�, a patented carbon surface treatment 'Diamond Like Coating'. The 46mm case has also undergone a specialized process of low-temperature carbon diffusion that hardens the steel by allowing carbon atoms to penetrate its surface - very cool!



These two processes help to strengthen the watch's resistance to wear and tear whilst adding to its aesthetic. The black theme is continued onto the watch dial with its 'C�tes de Gen�ve' motif, color-coordinated 'snailed' counters, and the black rubber divers rubber strap with its vertically sculpted lines. An ultra high-tech sports model its is, but it's just another iteration! Who remembers the Eberhard Scafodat 500? Now that's a really lovely diver!
