CREPAS 'El Buzo' (Exclusive Relojes Especiales Project)

By TLex El Buzo is a project, which I have been following with some interest over the last few months. Simply translated from Spanish to English, El Buzo means The Diver'.

This is an exclusive CREPAS project for and by the members of the Spanish watch forum, Relojes Especiales. CREPAS, who are overseeing the production, is small start-up Watch Company specializing in vintage inspired dive watches.

They are based in Torremolinos, Spain. Their first project, Le Grand was huge success with most of the first series of 99 being sold even before production had begun. I was lucky enough to snag #8 and will be posting about it in the following weeks.

The vintage inspired El Buzo will be produced in a limited series of just 300 pieces (there is talk though of the possibility of few more with a black finished case). The watch is a triple-timezone diver thanks to its ETA SA 2893-2 engine with integrated GMT indicator, and thanks also to an inner rotatable bezel with a 24hr time scale.

El Buzo also features a convex sapphire crystal and sapphire crystal inlay-ed external 120-click unidirectional divers bezel with elapsed dive-time scale.

Other features include dual screwdown crowns (one of which operates the movement and one the inner bezel), anti-magnetic inner case and super cool caseback engraving of a shark bursting through the CREPAS' ship propeller logo.

Its specially finished 316L stainless steel case, which measures 44mm x 49mm in diameter is water-resistant to 500 meters or, as indicated on its dial in Spanish 300 Brazaz (300 Fathoms).

The watch is available in either orange or black. I would like to reiterate that this is an exclusively designed diver only for the members of the Spanish watch forum Relojes Especiales'.

MHLE GLASHTTE Marinus GMT (new)

By TLex The new Marinus GMT from MHLE GLASHTTE comes equipped with a Muehle-specific ETA 2893-2 automatic caliber with Muehle-rotor and patented anti-shock 'woodpecker neck regulator' as used by the S.A.R Flieger Chronograph. Its 42.2mm case, which is water resistant to 30 atm features a unidirectional rotational divers bezel with 24hr indicator. It will be presented at Baselworld 2011 next month.

From MHLE GLASHTTE - Double Your Performance - Muehle Glashuettes latest Marinus GMT features a second time zone. A powerful outdoor-watch sticking to the credo of 100% is not enough. Imagine yourself surfing at Australians East coast, sailing in the Southern hemisphere or rafting in the Rockies: Overseas outdoor adventures are twice as much fun as indoor activities. Having this in mind, the German watch brand Muehle-Glashuette equipped its latest Marinus with a second time zone for boundless performance all over the globe.

Marinus GMT easily bounces back from a tough blow. Being a reliable partner for all kinds of fun and extreme sports, the robust outdoor watch has proved to be absolutely resistant to external influences such as pressure, temperature fluctuations, and salt water. On all continents. Thanks to its additional second time zone indication, the travel accessory allows the wearer to have the local time zone on his arm and his home time on his wrist wherever he travels. For the ease of distinction between home and local time, the dial is furnished with a red scale, perfectly matching the colour of the GMT hand. It points outwards to the bidirectional bezel, which indicates the second time zone.

Furthermore, Marinus GMT is equipped with a Muehle-specific ETA 2893-2 automatic movement. In addition to the so-called woodpecker neck regulation the companys own adjustment in the shape of a woodpeckers head, it features the characteristic Muehle-rotor with the famous Glashuette solar grinding. A power reserve of 42 hours, stop seconds and quick-set date mechanism complete the technical particularities of the durable timekeeper.

When facing challenges, Marinus GMT, water resistant to 30 atm, is securely protected by a solid stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.2 mm and a height of 12.2 mm. Several details such as the bossed, non-reflective 2.5 mm sapphire glass, the clear structure of the dial, and the hands and indices coated with white Super-LumiNova ensure excellent visibility. The bidirectional rotating, handy bezel and the crowns side protectors perfectly round out the watchs unique outdoor character. These details make Marinus GMT a watch for all those who expect more than 100% performance.

H2O Kalmar Prototypes Part.2 (DLC)

By TLex The DLC version of the H2O Kalmar, featured here with a matte black dial has an unusual finishing treatment. The Kalmar's Grade 5 Titanium case is first bead blasted then DLC coated; the effect a lovely thick stealthy matte-black finish of the type that you might find on DLC coated military components, which are specifically lacking any unnecessary shine or gloss to avoid unwanted reflections.

H2O Kalmar Prototypes Part.1 (titanium)

By TLex I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to finally be able to reveal the very first prototype images of the titanium version of the upcoming H2O Kalmar. For those of you who haven't been following the H2O story; the Kalmar promises to be not only the world's most customizable dive watch with a plethora of modifications that can be carried out by its wearer using a system of user-friendly hex-screws for attaching interchangeable bezels, casebacks and crown guards; but a force to be reckoned with among Boutique dive watches . . .

The H2O Kalmar will be one of, if not the first dive watches in the Boutique sector to be using Grade 5 Titanium case construction, certainly one the deepest boutique divers with a water-resistance of 3'000 meters and priced extremely competitively at 900USD (Brushed titanium housing an ETA 2824) - 1'100USD (DLC on Bead Blasted titanium housing an ETA2836-GMT).

H2O Watch are also working with and experimenting with new and innovative case construction using exotic metals. I have seen their first attempt, which I will be previewing along with this and the DLC Coated Bead Blasted Titanium version and it is nothing short of stunning!

Shown here sporting an understated metallic silver dial (12 other dial options are available), the H2O Klamar looks not only charismatic, but like a very capable precision engineered dive watch. Stay tuned for further pricing, full pre-ordering information and the announcement of the launch of H2O Website and of course 'H2O Kalmar Prototypes Part.2 & 3 . . .
